3 curfew violators yield shabu in Lucena checkpoint

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has apprehended two foreign nationals for attempting to smuggle illegal drugs into the BI Detention Center in Taguig City.

LUCENA CITY—Police arrested Monday three COVID-19 curfew violators here who were later found allegedly carrying shabu (crystal meth) and other illegal items.

Lt. Col. Romulo Albacea, Lucena police chief, reported that policemen at a checkpoint flagged down a motorcycle with Pedmon Arca, Rolando Geron, and Sherwin Mark Ian Ricamara on board in Barangay Ibabang Iyam around 12:30 a.m.

During a routine search, the police found a sachet of shabu, drug-sniffing paraphernalia, a bladed weapon, and three caliber .45 bullets from the utility box of the motorcycle.

The suspects were detained and are facing criminal charges.

Authorities have been imposing a 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew as the city remained under the strict modified enhanced community quarantine.
