LUCENA CITY –– Cavite police has intensified their implementation of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) safety protocols under the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) status.
Lt. Col. Rodelino Aspiras, Cavite police officer-in-charge, reported that 38 quarantine control checkpoints had been placed in every strategic location and border of each city and municipality in the province since midnight of March 29.
The checkpoints particularly monitor the inter-border travel between Cavite and Batangas, which is not part of the so-called “NCR Plus bubble.”
The police have been conducting inspection and validation of the motorist’s purpose of travel and their compliance to the minimum safety protocols.
Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Laguna, and Cavite, collectively called the “NCR Plus bubble,” were placed under the strictest ECQ status to curb the rise of COVID-19 cases with Metro Manila as the epicenter.
On March 30, the Cavite police reported the arrest of 274 COVID-19 community quarantine violators in different parts of the province. The day before, authorities also accosted 153 violators.
From March 21 to 28, police arrested a total of 2,212 persons who were allegedly violating health and safety protocols against COVID-19.
The violators were caught not wearing face masks or ignoring the curfew in their localities.
The violators paid fines, did community service, and rendered other punishments imposed by concerned local governments.
As of March 29, Cavite has recorded 24,424 COVID-19 cases with 19,918 recoveries and 601 fatalities.
The province still has 3,905 virus carriers.
