MANILA, Philippines — More than a thousand residents of Manila, including more than 100 minors, violated the local curfew ordinance that aims to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
According to the Manila Public Information Office, 1,023 were apprehended for violation of Ordinance No. 8243, which sets curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. as of Wednesday morning.
Of this, 112 are minors. Minors will not be apprehended but parents of minors 12 years old and younger may face imprisonment of up to six months or a P5,000 fine.
Parents of minors aged 13 to 14 years old will face a P3,000 penalty or a maximum of three months of imprisonment; those of minors aged 15 to 17 will be penalized with a P2,000 penalty or a maximum of one-month imprisonment.
