MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration has barred 11 Chinese from entering the country after they misrepresented their purpose of travel to the Philippines.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said the Chinese, who arrived on a China Southern Airlines flight from Guangzhou, were intercepted at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Thursday.

All 11 passengers were immediately booked on the first available flight to China and subsequently placed on the immigration blacklist.

The Chinese claimed they were supposed to attend a business conference but could not present any proof.
