DOH reports 2,113 new Covid-19 cases; 9,418 recoveries

Independent pandemic monitoring organization Octa Research on Thursday described as “concerning” the current COVID-19 situation in Metro Manila, although the metropolis remained under the “low risk classification."

MANILA, Philippines — Some 2,113 persons have newly contracted Covid-19 while 9,418 others have recovered from the deadly respiratory disease, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Sunday.

This brought the total number of Covid-19 cases in the Philippines to 576,352 while total recoveries stand at 534,271, according to the DOH’s daily Covid-19 case bulletin.

Meanwhile, the number of active cases is 29,763.

The death toll also rose to 12,318 after 29 more patients succumbed to the disease.

The DOH said it removed eight duplicates from the total case count, two of which are recoveries.

Meanwhile, 10 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths.

The DOH said one laboratory was not able to submit its data on Feb. 27.
