MANILA, Philippines—Damage to infrastructure and agriculture in Caraga region wrought by Tropical Storm Auring could cost P24 million, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Wednesday (Feb. 24).

In its latest report, the NDRRMC said Auring left P21.4 million in destroyed crops and damage to fisheries, livestock and poultry. Another P2.8 million in infrastructure damage was estimated.

At least 226 houses were destroyed and 453 suffered damage.

Search is underway for four missing persons, after their boat capsized in Surigao del Sur. The NDRRMC earlier recorded 1 dead and 2 injured, also in the province.

Almost 50,000 people from the Bicol region and parts of Visayas and Mindanao were displaced or disrupted by the storm, the country’s first this year.
