BENITO SOLIVEN, ISABELA — A 25-year-old motorcycle rider died while two others were hurt in a Thursday night collision along Barangay (village) District 2, police said on Saturday.

James Agustin, 25, was killed when he smashed into a pick-up truck after overtaking another car, said Police Major Crismark Casillana, Benito Soliven police chief.

He said Agustin’s motorcycle raced through a checkpoint when police officials manning it were about to wind up for the day.

Agustin was rushed to the San Mariano Community Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The accident injured his back riders Randy Mansibang, 39, and John Mansibang, 31, who were thrown off the motorcycle due to the impact.

Jaime Suguitan Jr., driver of the pick-up truck, said he would shoulder the funeral and medical expenses of the victims. VILLAMOR VISAYA JR
