MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has haled to court 244 suspected smugglers by filing 70 cases against them from January to early December, the Department of Finance said on Thursday.
BOC Deputy Commissioner Vener Baquiran said 19 customs bonded warehouses and 40 customs common bonded warehouses containing smuggled goods were shuttered during the same period. —Ben O. de Vera
