The Department of Agriculture (DA) has expanded its cash assistance program to marginal corn, coconut and sugarcane farmers as well as fisherfolk and indigenous peoples (IPs) who were adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2), nonrice farmers will be entitled to P5,000 worth of assistance, P3,000 of which would be in cash while the rest would be in-kind comprised of P1,000 in rice and P1,000 in chicken and eggs. —KARL R. OCAMPO
