The Hospital Of The Infant Jesus Medical Center was added in the NCR hospitals with a full capacity of beds for COVID-19 patients as its bed occupancy rose from 33.3 percent to 100 percent.

Also, the number of hospitals under danger zone retained at 27 out of the 127 hospitals in Metro Manila.

DOH said previously that “danger level” means that beds for COVID-19 patients in hospitals have more than 70 percent occupancy. These hospitals are vulnerable to being full in case there is a surge of COVID-19 cases in these areas.

The bed occupancy rate for the whole Metro Manila remained at “warning level” with 52.4 percent, as 3,270 beds out of 6,237 total beds are occupied.

This decreased by 0.2 percent from the Oct. 6 figures with 52.6 percent as 3,369 out of 6,408 total COVID-19 beds are occupied.

A “warning” level is a classification for hospitals that have a 30 percent to 70 percent utilization rate.

Meanwhile, hospitals are tagged as “safe” if their bed occupancy is less than 30 percent.

INQUIRER.net analyzed the most available data, dated Oct. 14, 2020, based on the DOH’ COVID-19 tracker.

Of the 136 hospitals recorded last Sept. 30, nine were either removed or did not have data in the DOH tracker.

The removed medical facilities were identified as:

– Cabarles Maternity Medical and Children’s Clinic – Caloocan City North Medical Center – Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo Hospital – Jesus Immaculate Concepcion Hospital – Tagig Doctors Hospital – University of the Philippines Health Service – Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital – Vian Family Hospital II – Villarosa Hospital, Inc.

INQUIRER.net sought an explanation from DOH regarding the removal of the hospitals but has yet to receive a reply, as of posting.

This story aims to show how hospitals are ready should there be a sudden rise of coronavirus cases. However, only hospitals in Metro Manila that have data on COVID-19 beds allocated for coronavirus patients were included in this story.
