30,000 to benefit from DOLE scholarships

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) for the provision of labor and employment assistance for professional and retired athletes.

MANILA, Philippines — More than 30,000 students are expected to benefit from the P1-billion scholarship fund set up by the government for the dependents of displaced and deceased overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Labor Department Secretary Silvestre Bello III said the “Tabang OFW” program is a onetime financial assistance of P30,000 for dependents of a repatriated, displaced or deceased OFW.
