Nasa typhoon category na ito ngayon,” Pagasa senior weather specialist Loriedin Dela Cruz said in a 4 a.m. weather forecast on Thursday.

(We are currently monitoring a tropical cyclone with the international name Haishen outside PAR, particularly in the eastern section.  It is now in a typhoon category.)

(Based on the outlook we see for the typhoon, it may briefly enter PAR by Friday and will eventually head for Japan.)

“Haishen” has maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 150 kph. It is moving west northwest at 20 kph.
