COVID-19 cases in PNP surpass 4,000

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP)  recorded 4,004 new COVID-19 cases within its ranks, with the addition of 103 new cases as of 6 p.m. on Saturday.

According to the PNP Public Information Office, most of the cases — or 61 — are in the National Capital Region Police Office, followed by the National Operations Support Unit with 20, and the Calabarzon Police Regional Office with 14.

The PNP also recorded 45 more police officers who recovered from the disease, increasing the total recoveries to 2,752.

The COVID-19 death toll remained at 16 with no new deaths reported.

The PNP, under Gen. Archie Gamboa, has a total of 205,000 officers nationwide.
