Displaced Bicol workers to get SSS benefits

In the Bicol Region, anti-narcotics operatives recover more than P1.6 million worth of "shabu" and marijuana

LEGAZPI CITY—More than 1,000 workers in the Bicol region displaced by the coronavirus pandemic are expected to get P18.2 million worth of unemployment benefits, an official of the Social Security System (SSS) said.

Jeanette Mapa, SSS Bicol spokesperson, said 1,386 applications had been approved, with each applicant receiving an average of P13,303.

The fund for Bicol beneficiaries was part of the P392.28 million that SSS had released from March 17 to Aug. 11, she said. —MAR ARGUELLES
