MANILA, Philippines — Trains and public utility vehicles (PUVs) are prepared to serve passengers again as the National Capital Region (NCR) shifts to the less strict general community quarantine on Aug. 19, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Tuesday.
Here is a list of the train lines and PUVs that will resume operations during GCQ:
- The Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) line is ready to dispatch 16 Czech-built train sets and two China-built Dalian train sets on a daily basis.
- Light Rail Transit-1 (LRT-1) is prepared to dispatch on weekdays 24 train sets for the morning peak hours, 18 train sets for the off-peak hours, and 24 train sets during the afternoon peak hours.
- The Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT Line 2) will be deploying 5 trains sets daily.
- Philippine National Railways (PNR) is ready to deploy 10 train sets on a daily basis.
- For traditional public utility jeepneys, 12,443 will be dispatched in 126 routes.
- 1,621 UV Express units in 51 routes will return to roads.
- 3,662 public utility buses to serve commuters in 31 routes.
- 716 modern jeepneys to operate in 45 routes.
- 364 point-to-point buses will be rolled out in 33 routes.
- 20,493 taxis and 23,776 transport network vehicle service (TNVS) units will ferry passengers in Metro Manila.
DOTr also reminded operators and passengers of the required safety protocols such as wearing face masks and face shields; body temperature checks; regular disinfection of vehicles and the accomplishment of contact tracing forms, among others.
As of Monday, the Philippines recorded a total of 164,474 COVID-19 cases. This includes 112,759 recoveries and 2,681 fatalities.
