Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya) has slammed the presence of police forces in full battle gear in Navotas, which currently has rising cases of coronavirus.

The group said the presence of law enforcement entities in full riot gear is a form of “state terrorism” that sows fear in residents, instead of providing them with medical and other social services.

“What do police forces on full battle gear have to do with the rising cases of virus in Navotas City? High-risk areas need visible health workers and medical teams, not fullyarmed police swarming the streets on armored personnel carriers,” said Fernando Hicap, Pamalakaya national chair. —Patricia Denise M.
