MANILA, Philippines — Rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and most of the country on Thursday due to the low pressure area (LPA) off Eastern Samar province, weather forecasters said.

Coupled with surface winds blowing from the southwest, the weather disturbance is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rainfall, which may possibly lead to flash floods or landslides.

As of 3 p.m. on Wednesday, the LPA was spotted 30 kilometers east of Borongan City.
