Convicted killer caught 28 years after being on the run

Seven suspected drug peddlers were arrested while more than P15.8 million worth of "shabu" and smuggled cigarettes were seized in three separate anti-crime operations in Cebu City and Zamboanga City.

MANILA, Philippines — The second most wanted man in Alcala town, Cagayan, has finally been arrested after more than 28 years of being on the run.

Franklin dela Cruz, who had been convicted of murder, was arrested on Monday at a building in Makati City where he had been working as a security guard.

Authorities served the suspect with a warrant for his arrest issued by Judge Jezarene Aquino of the Tuguegarao Regional Trial Court Branch 5 with no bail recommended.

According to Makati police chief Col. Oscar Jacildo, the 53-year-old former Army sergeant, along with two others, killed another soldier identified as Sgt. Rodolfo Binarao, on Jan. 22, 1992.
