The resumption of classes in higher education institutions (HEIs) will depend on their mode of learning, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said.

HEIs that tap flexible learning methods can resume classes as early as August, while those that use full online education can resume classes anytime.

Those using significant face-to-face or in-person teaching methods can resume classes not earlier than Sept. 1 in areas under general community quarantine.

Roque said private HEIs were also encouraged to change their academic calendar and schedule the opening of classes in August. —JULIE M. AURELIO
