Over 3,000 held in Bicol for quarantine violations

LEGAZPI CITY –– Police rounded up over 3,000 violators of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in various police operations across Bicol since the measure was enforced in March to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Luzon.

Brigadier General Anthony Alcañeses, Bicol police chief, said the police ECQ command center have recorded 3,234 violators in the region.

For violations of the curfew hours, 1,312 people were arrested, while 1,889 violators were held for violating the liquor ban, disobedience, and resisting ECQ guidelines.

Meanwhile, 19 people were caught hoarding, profiteering, and overpricing of medical supplies and other related essential items.
