UST-Legaspi grad tops 2019 bar exam

MANILA, Philippines  — A law graduate from the University of Santo Tomas-Legaspi (formerly Aquinas University has topped the 2019 Bar Examination, the Supreme Court announced on Wednesday.

Registering a passing rate of 91.0490-percent, UST-Legaspi’s Mae Diane M. Azores bested 7,699 who took the grueling four-day bar examination at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in November.

Likewise, about 2,103 lawyers out of 7,685 examinees passed the 2019 Bar examination, yielding a 27.36-percent passing rate this year.

The results were announced following a special en banc session where High Court magistrates deliberated on the Bar exam results.

Bar examinees took a total of eight subjects for four consecutive Sundays in November: Political Law and Labor Law, Civil Law and Taxation, Mercantile Law and Criminal Law, Remedial Law and Legal Ethics and Practical Exercises.
