Two traffic enforcers in Navotas City were apprehended on Wednesday after they were caught riding the same motorcycle in violation of the city’s social distancing protocol. According to Irish Cubillan, Navotas public information officer, the head of the City Traffic and Parking Management Office issued an ordinance violation receipt to the two enforcers after photos of them roaming the streets on a motorcycle circulated online. “Isn’t it true that backriders are not allowed [under social distancing protocols] even if you’re husband and wife?” the netizen behind the post pointed out. Cubillan told reporters that enforcers would not be exempted from being penalized for violating the ordinance, saying they would face the consequences like ordinary citizens. —Meg Adonis
