UPLB requests in-kind donation for stranded students

/ 03:53 PM March 27, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — The University of the Philippines – Los Baños (UPLB) is seeking help for its students who remain stranded in campus following the announcement of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine to contain the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a Facebook post, the management of UPLB said they are accepting in-kind donations at the UPLB Main Gate from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and at 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for the benefit of stranded students.

“Our students still need your help. We are appealing to everyone to help us sustain the initiative to assist our students stranded in their dormitories in UPLB and in private dormitory facilities in Los Baños and in Bay, Laguna,” UPLB said.

In an appeal issued by UPLB Chancellor Fernando C. Sanchez Jr., he said that as of March 26, the university has provided two meals each day to 1,505 students.

“This is aside from the initiatives and efforts of other groups. Donations have trickled in but considering the daily grind in food preparations, funds are spent as fast as these are received,” Sanchez said.
