More military men, 4 CA justices named

Former Philippine Navy chief Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad on Thursday belied the accusations of former Senator Antonio Trillanes over alleged anomalies about the frigate acquisition project during the administration of former President Duterte.

President Duterte has named more military officials to government posts.

Appointed administrator of the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) was former Navy chief Robert Empedrad.

The list released by Malacañang also showed that former Army chief Macairog Alberto has been named Philippine Ambassador to Israel, replacing Nathaniel Imperial.

Marina used to be headed by former Army Gen. Rey Leonardo Guerrero, who was replaced in the agency by Narciso Vingson Jr. as officer in charge, after Guerrero was named Bureau of Customs chief.

Mr. Duterte also reappointed former Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. as his special envoy for intercultural dialogue and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.

Abdullah Mama-o was reappointed as the President’s special envoy to Kuwait.

Mr. Duterte also named four new Court of Appeals (CA) justices, namely Bonifacio Pascua, Raymond Lauigan, Lorenza Bordios and Richard Mordeno.
