LOS BANOS, Laguna –– International non-government institutions at the University of the Philippines Los Baños in Laguna, have released protocols to address the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) threat.
Staff members at the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity were advised to defer unnecessary travels, including layovers to countries with confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to an internal memorandum.
At the International Rice Research Institute, visitors need to go through temperature screening at the main gate and go through health screening and accomplish a form at the visitor’s center before they could access areas like the coffee shop and cafeteria.
Two tourist spots inside the UPLB campus also took preventive measures against the new virus.
The Makiling Botanic Gardens (MBG) now requires visitors to fill out a form before entering and has made alcohol and hand sanitizer available to them, according to Dr. Rogelio Andrada II, deputy director of the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems and MBG head.
The UPLB Museum of Natural History, on the other hand, announced on social media Wednesday morning that it would not receive tour visitors (walk-in and tour agency-assisted) until March 18.
It will, however, “entertain individuals who will request for biological specimen identification services and scientific name verification services with condition that the persons follow Department of Health-prescribed protection measures.”
