Maguindanao deputy prosecutor, pals survive assassination

P500,000 bounty up for killers of village chief

COTABATO CITY—-The deputy prosecutor of Maguindanao province and two companions were wounded in an ambush in a subdivision here, according to police.

Col. Portia Manalad, Cotabato City police chief, said the official and his companions were on board a white Toyota Grandia, a luxury van, heading to Featherville Subdivision when motorcycle-riding gunmen opened fire at 2 p.m.

She said Maguindanao Deputy Provincial Prosecutor Tocod Ronda and two companions were injured and are now being treated for gunshot wounds.

Maguindanao provincial prosecutor Rohaira Lao urged police to investigate extensively to identify the perpetrators and bring them behind bars.
