BAGUIO CITY—The temperature in this summer capital plunged to 10 degrees Celsius on Thursday, the coldest yet since the “amihan” season began, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration here said.

The chill was recorded at 7:45 a.m. and was due to the amihan, or the cool northeast monsoon, which started in October last year, weather observer Efren Dalipog said. —Karlston Lapniten
