Farmer killed in Quezon highway accident

LUCENA CITY, Philippines – A farmer was killed after being hit by a speeding truck along the Maharlika Highway in Candelaria town in Quezon province on Monday night.

A report from the Candelaria police, said Ariel Marasigan, 56, was crossing the highway when he was hit by the truck driven by David Rivera in Barangay Bukal Sur at around 8:10 p.m.

Police said Marasigan died instantly from serious head and body injuries.

The truck driver meanwhile was detained at the local police station and is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
