MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police is mulling the lockdown of its schools and training facilities should the need arise to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa has also tapped a police unit to assist in the repatriation of Filipinos from China and other countries with confirmed cases of the virus.

“The PNP is seriously considering the temporary lockdown of all our training facilities, including the PNP Academy, National Police Training Institute, and all its regional training schools, to ensure the safety and protection of cadets and trainees in the facilities,” Gamboa said.—Jeannette I.
