Honeylet’s cousin appointed anew

President Duterte has named Melissa Aradanas, a cousin of his partner Cielito “Honeylet” Avanceña as assistant secretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).

Aradanas was one of five commissioners of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor that Mr. Duterte fired in 2017 due to allegedly excessive foreign trips.

The following year, the President reappointed her deputy secretary general of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC). The DHSUD was created in February 2018 to consolidate the HUDCC and the Housing Land Use Regulatory Board under one agency. —Julie M. Aurelio
