3 nabbed for child abuse in Catanduanes

Seven suspected drug peddlers were arrested while more than P15.8 million worth of "shabu" and smuggled cigarettes were seized in three separate anti-crime operations in Cebu City and Zamboanga City.

LEGAZPI CITY –– A village chief and two others were arrested for child abuse cases in Catanduanes province on Tuesday.

Colonel Florendo Abay, Catanduanes police director, said Domingo Tribiana, 65, village chief of Batalay in Bato town, was collared after allegedly hitting a 14-year-old boy around 11:30 p.m.

He is facing charges for violation of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.

In Baras town, authorities also arrested Gerardo Atun, 59 and his son Gyle in Barangay Eastern Poblacion at 8:25 p.m.

They were also facing charges of child abuse for allegedly hitting a 15-year-old boy last August.
