MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is ready to provide security assistance and maritime safety for the celebration of this year’s Traslacion.

In a statement on Wednesday, the PCG said it is already conducting coastal operations along the vicinity waters off Quirino Grandstand and Pasig River, particularly in Ayala Bridge, McArthur Bridge, Quezon Bridge and Jones Bridge starting Tuesday, Jan. 7, until Friday, Jan. 10.

The agency has also deployed 271 personnel and 36 floating assets along major operational areas such as Quiapo Church, Ayala Bridge and Quirino Grandstand.

Multi-role response vessels, fast patrol boats and small crafts such as high-speed boats and rubber boats were also deployed to monitor any untoward incident.

There are also K9 units, quick response teams, medical groups, and force multipliers from the PCG Auxiliary stationed at the back of the Quirino Grandstand, PCG added.

The PCG urged devotees to comply with safety and security measures and report any suspicious individual or incident.

The Traslacion or the Feast of the Black Nazarene will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9.
