MANILA, Philippines — A Taiwanese group has come to the aid of earthquake survivors in Mindanao.

The Tian Pao Taiwan-Philippines Mission Team, led by Chien Hsien-Fu and assisted by the Cotabato-based Malamote Alliance Evangelical Church, gave out hundreds of sacks of rice and boxes of grocery items to quake victims in Kidapawan City last month.

In October, a series of powerful earthquakes jolted Cotabato and other parts of Mindanao, killing 31 people,  damaging structures, and forcing hundreds of families to evacuate.

On Nov. 13, members of the Tian Pao mission distributed rice and grocery relief goods to some 232 families from Sitio Sumayahon, Sitio Embassi and Sitio Bagong Silang, the three most damaged areas in Barangay Perez in Kidapawan City.

The group also gave $350 to Sitio Sumayahon Elementary School for the purchase school supplies. —Patricia Denise M. Chiu
