MANILA, Philippines — Work at the House Representatives was suspended on Tuesday in anticipation of Typhoon Tisoy’s heavy rains.

The chamber’s Office of the Secretary-General said the session, other activities, and hearings scheduled on Tuesday were likewise canceled.

Latest forecast from the state weather bureau showed that Tisoy slightly weakened early Tuesday morning but remained strong and destructive.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 is still up over Metro Manila, where 61 kilometers per hour to 120 kph winds speed is expected in the next 24 hours.

Frequent to continuous heavy to intense (with isolated torrential) rains will be experienced in the capital region on Tuesday.

Classes in all levels in Quezon City where the Batasang Pambansa is located have also been suspended.
