MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan Seventh Division has affirmed the conviction of five Tambulig, Zamboanga del Sur, officials for graft, in connection with their conspiracy over the irregular purchase of a vehicle in 2012.

In a Sept. 4 ruling that was released on Monday, the court found no merit in the  motion for reconsideration filed by budget officer Gloria Bation and bids and awards committee members Alexander Remoto, Bienvenido Suco, Isidro Maglaki Ebrado Jr. and Elvie Gealon Doon.

They were earlier convicted of the same charge along with former Tambulig Mayor Caridad Baguio Balaod, and sentenced to up to 10 years imprisonment. —Patricia Denise M. Chiu
