MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte’s pain from his bout of muscle spasms in Japan has “considerably eased” over the weekend, allowing him to even use the treadmill.

Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo on Monday assured the public that the President is fit to attend the 35th Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit in Thailand this week.

“There was a considerable easing of pain. Otherwise he won’t push through with his Bangkok trip, and he won’t even go on the treadmill,” Panelo said at a press briefing. —Julie M. Aurelio
