Man held for assault escapes after arrest by police

CITY OF CALAPAN—Police arrested but lost custody of a man who assaulted village officials on Sunday (Aug 11) in Naujan town, Oriental Mindoro province.

Police said the man, Randy Castillo, 25, was arrested after assaulting village officials Claro Untalan and Jeryme Buquid on Saturday (Aug 10).

Castillo was being brought to the police station when he escaped. He will be charged with direct assault on persons of authority. Madonna Virola/TSB
