2 suspected rebels slain in Camarines Sur clash

LEGAZPI CITY –– Two suspected New  People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed early Friday morning in a clash with government soldiers in a remote village of Caramoan town in Camarines Sur province, an Army report said.

Major Ricky Aguilar, Army 9th Infantry Division public affairs chief, said Army troops on patrol encountered a 20-man rebel group at 5:15 a.m. in Sitio Mauban, Barangay Mampirao.

The firefight between the Army soldiers and the rebels led to the death of two NPA rebels who are yet to be identified as of this posting.

Government troops recovered five high powered firearms after the clash, Aguilar said. (Editor: Leti Boniol)
