According to the Department of Health, a total of 406 leptospirosis cases were reported nationwide from January to April 2019.

The figure was 57 percent lower than the 939 cases recorded during the same period last year.

There were 47 deaths recorded due to leptospirosis nationwide from January to April 2019, 11 of these in Metro Manila. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
