Duterte to appoint Nolcom’s Salamat as next MWSS chief

Water concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc., which serves the west zone of Metro Manila and nearby provinces, has been given a Notice to Explain after recurring water interruptions affecting consumers of the Putatan Water Treatment Plants.

SANGLEY POINT, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte will appoint Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Salamat, chief of the military’s Northern Luzon Command, as the next Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) head.

Duterte disclosed about this impending appointment of Salamat in his speech during the 121st Philippine Navy Anniversary here on Monday.

Salamat is set to retire on July 15. He will replace retired general Ricardo Morales as MWSS administrator. (Editor: Katherine G. Adraneda)
