MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines may not question the action taken by Chinese Immigration officials against former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Tuesday.

Morales was barred entry to HongKong on Tuesday for being a “security threat.”

Guevarra said he could not find any reason why the former Ombudsman would be denied entry to Hong Kong, except the case she and former Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario filed against Chinese President Xi Jinping before the International Criminal Court.

“Regardless of the reason, however, we may not question the action taken by Chinese immigration officials, as the entry of foreigners or the refusal thereof is the exclusive and sovereign prerogative of any country,” said Guevarra. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
