Surigao Baseport stops operations on Good Friday

DOTr on heightened alert for opening of classes on June 3

MANILA, Philippines—The Surigao City Baseport has stopped its operation in observance of Good Friday, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said.

In a Twitter post, the DOTr said the Surigao port will resume normal operations on Black Saturday.

“MARINA-13 (Maritime Industry Authority) personnel is continuously monitoring the said port together with PPA (Philippine Ports Authority) and PNP (Philippine National Police),” the DOTr said.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has reported a total of 29,910 outbound passengers in ports nationwide from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Maundy Thursday. /jpv
