According to the latest data from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, there were a total of 482 jails nationwide as of May 2018.
Among all regions, Calabarzon had the most number of jails with 57, followed by Metro Manila with 43, and Central Luzon and Eastern Visayas with 38 each. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
