Fuel price hike set on April 9

The Department of Energy (DOE) will propose the reimplementation of the Pantawid Pasada Program to alleviate the public utility operators’ woes on soaring fuel costs, an Energy official said Wednesday.

MANILA, Philippines – Fuel pump prices are scheduled to increase on Tuesday, April 9.

Diesel will increase by 20 centavos per liter, gasoline by 25 centavos per liter and kerosene by 10 centavos per liter.

Shell and Seaoil have announced the price increases.

Other oil firms are expected to follow.

Last week, prices of the Asian bellwether Dubai crude surged to $66.98 per barrel as of April 4 from $66.93 on April 1.

Likewise, the de facto global benchmark Brent crude has breached the $70 mark, trading at $70.54 per barrel on April 7 from $69.01 on April 1. / gsg
