Based on the latest data of the Department of Health, Metro Manila posted the highest number of new human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) cases among all regions in January 2019.

Of the 1,249 new HIV cases reported nationwide during that month, 32 percent or 402 were from the National Capital Region, followed by Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon provinces) with 18 percent or 228 cases.
