MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday reminded registered voters that over-voting, or voting for more than the maximum number of candidates allowed would invalidate their vote.

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez issued the reminder after the Hugpong ng Pagbabago party on Tuesday endorsed 13 Senate candidates.

Only the top 12 Senate candidates will be proclaimed as winners.

As for the part of party-list groups, only one name should be picked on election day.

“Lahat ng overvoted, stray, hindi overvoted stay,” Jimenez said in a forum in Manila.

Jimenez added that the vote counting machines do not have the capacity to eliminate a name or names in case a voter picked more than the maximum number of candidates. / gsg
