MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 3.5 earthquake struck Surigao del Sur on Wednesday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its initial report, Phivolcs said the temblor hit 21 kilometers (km) east of Cortes, Surigao del Sure at 9:09 p.m.
The tremor of tectonic origin had a depth of 25 km, it added.
According to Phivolcs, no aftershocks and damage could be expected from the earthquake. /kga
