Amid complaints over long queues, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has decided to transfer the distribution of  fare matrices to jeepney drivers in the National Capital Region (NCR) to its central office.

LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra, however, insisted that the agency is “prepared a week before” the start of the influx of drivers to its NCR regional office.

Delgra said he met with division heads assigned at the LTFRB NCR regional office to address the congestion issue.

“I have to call a meeting because of the reports that we are receiving regarding the long line of those getting fare matrices,” Delgra said in an interview with CNN Philippines on Wednesday.

“So we’re transferring the distribution of the fare matrix for NCR to the central office, which will have a much more space starting today until we will be able to distribute and release all the fare matrix for Metro Manila,” he added.

Data from the LTFRB shows that a total of 6,360 fare matrices have been distributed to jeepney drivers in the NCR, Regions 3 and 4, and at the central office.

Despite the complaints, Delgra said the board is prepared for the influx way, before the implementation of the fare hike last Nov. 2

“As far as the preparation is concerned, we are actually prepared at least a week before the effective implementation of the decision, which is November 2,” he said. “And even a week before that, the fare matrix is already ready.”

The fare matrix shows the newly computed fare structure following the approval of the  P2 fare hike for public utility jeepneys.

Drivers and operators could not charge their passengers the new P10 minimum fare without the fare matrix posted inside their vehicles. /ee
