Rep. Gatchalian apologizes for car parked on PWD lane

Valenzuela City 1st District Rep. Wes Gatchalian has issued an apology after his car blocked a lane intended for persons with disability (PWD) in front of a restaurant in Quezon City.
A Facebook user posted the photo of the incident on Friday.

On Monday, Gatchalian issued a public apology on his Facebook account and explained that it was not him who drove and parked the vehicle.

He said he already suspended his staff member who “inadvertently” parked his car.
“While it was not me who was driving the vehicle, I believe that it was my duty to ensure that my staff constantly acts in a manner that respects and is conscious of the rights of every person,” he said.

“Nothing less should be expected of my office,” he added.
The lawmaker also said he supports policies for inclusivity and accessibility of PWDs, especially in his district. /jpv
