LUCENA CITY – A collision of a bus and a van along the Maharlika Highway in Tiaong town in Quezon province early Monday resulted to the death of a driver and serious injury to a passenger, police said.
A report from the Quezon police said an Amihan passenger bus being driven by Ian de la Cruz collided head-on with an incoming Mitsubishi L300 van in Barangay Lagalag around 3:45 a.m.
Van driver Jimmy Montero Jr. suffered fatal head and body injuries and died on the spot.
A still unidentified male passenger of the ill-fated van was also injured and was taken to the nearest hospital.
The bus driver was arrested and detained at the town police jail. DELFIN T. MALLARI JR.
